The Founder

Meet Adam: World-renowned artist. Philanthropist and caretaker. Founder of Rock the Catzba.

The Painfully Short Version:

Adam has spent his life taking care of others and always had a soft spot for cats. He took in a bunch due to the 2008 housing crisis. He moved to a big house in San Mateo and kept taking them in. Now he is the founder of Rock The Catzba. Everyone is happy!

The “Normal” Version:

Adam has helped care for the less fortunate his whole life, and he has always had a weak spot for the strays that would show up at his home or studio in Dania Beach meowing for food or love. During the 2008 housing crisis, his cat family really began to grow. Foreclosures and other financial hardships caused many to abandon their pets, many of them cats. Adam always got help for any who needed it, but his weakness for cats showed. By 2010, he had almost 30 cats that frequented or lived on his property. The growing cost and diminishing feasibility set off a chain of events that would eventually lead to the formation of Rock the Catzba.

After 27 years in south Florida, Adam made a bold decision to move his studio and the cats he had been feeding to a new location better suited for finding cats in need and giving them the care they need to survive and thrive. A sprawling 1889 three-story Victorian house with a four-bay carriage house in San Mateo, Florida. And although Adam was met with an influx of strays upon arrival at his new home, over 4,500 square feet gave plenty of room for everyone to breathe. Rock the Catzba wants to eventually add an aviary-like structure, enclosed for safety, in order to significantly increase the cats’ effective living space. This will come to fruition as we raise funds through donations and art sales.
